Interview Techniques
To prepare for our Ceramic Artist interview the group drew-up areas to cover which we felt would be of interest to a broad audience. On paper, questions were revised and ordered to form a cohesive narrative. Having our beginning, middle and end on paper made editing a lot simpler, as footage was filmed then loaded in it’s desired order. The initial interview was kept simple, introducing our subject and her work. Later, questions were more specific, drawing out the subject’s personal outlook and values towards her craft. It was important to use this gradual approach as I felt if more testing questions were ask early on our interview would be unprepared. In this piece we wanted genuine, considered answers. I believe harder questions could be asked earlier on if the interviewer wanted to put the subject on the spot with an expose angle common in journalism.
The group felt pleased that we had made an interesting Actuality piece. However, we acknowledge it was too fragmented to be regarded as a sequence that could fit into a larger story.

Mylor Shoot
For this character based piece we drew-up a shot list based on ideas of a typical harbour without a doing recce. Although accurate, details such as the restaurant, crane and boatyard could have been explored further with more preparation. This would have given our character greater distinction.
Having filmed our other two films earlier in the day, the Mylor shoot required quick responses to fading light and a change in approach from fictional to factual story telling. We achieved this by splitting-up the group to cover more ground, and mainly used static shots to let action unfold before the camera.
The order of shots in post was decided for us by the restrictions of the rushes. We made a natural progression from light to dark scenes. Although welcomed for this collage of shots, if a more specific narrative was required continuity could have been a problem.
In the future I will continue to have presumptions of a character or place, as they are convenient when a quick shoot is required. They may also be used as a good starting point to a piece which aims to test conventions.

Creative Commons License
Soundcloud is a great site to obtain original music under a Creative Commons License - Which generally means you can use and modify audio for your own use. Group C underlaid a simple piano based track named Surf by Chino Yoshio in our Actuality Piece.

last couple of weeks
Each week the tasks have become easier to complete.
The first week was a little bit stressful just because it was our first time working as a group and it was all a bit overwhelming thinking of three ideas to shoot. However, we managed to shoot all the footage in a day without any hiccups. Just trying to get your head around Avid isn't easy and that meant that rather than assuming it would take a few hours to do it actually took the whole day.
This week filming the interviews, I have already noticed a change within the group. We have become more organised and shot a day earlier than the week before to allow for more time to edit. Improvements have started to happen but getting the hang of all the paperwork and deadlines will take more practice.
